PPC WEWAK THANKS POLICE OFFICERS FOR KEEPING PEACE

East Sepik Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Christopher Tamari, who was transferred into the province recently, thanked the officers in the province for their efforts in making sure peace was maintained and the province recorded a peaceful celebration throughout the festive period.

PPC Tamari said East Sepik and West Sepik Provinces are known for having large numbers of fire crackers or fireworks and they use them during the festive period celebrations however, he was pleased to announce that the usage of these had been reduced this festive period as observed.

 “I thank the police personal and border operations for tightening up on security at the border as many firecrackers were brought in from Jayapura,” he said.  

PPC Tamari said they will continue to work on tightening up the border operations to further reduce the supply of fire crackers into the provinces of East and West Sepik.

He expressed his gratitude to the people of East Sepik for celebrating the New Year peacefully at their communities and residence.

Superintendent Tamari further said apart from Christmas and New Year celebrations incidents, murder cases were reported from Yangoru and West Coast.

The murder suspect in Yangoru was picked up by police and is detained awaiting investigations while the murder suspect in West Coast is known to police and will be picked up soon.
