PPC MOROBE DIRECTS RESIDENTS OF WAU TO SURRENDER MURDER SUSPECTS
MOROBE Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent, Samson Siguyaru has directed the residents of Wau to surrender a murder suspects involved in the death of young man in the area.
Superintendent Siguyaru call on the Wau and Watut community at the Six Compound in Wau Town to surrender the suspects with the deadline given until the end of the day today.
PPC said failure to comply with the directives would result in further enforcement actions to be taken, including the arrest of individuals including parents and community leaders for harboring the suspects.
PPC Siguyaru will return to Wau today Monday 13th April 2026 to ensure enforcement of this directive.
Police alleged that a young man from Biangai Village in Wau-Waria was allegedly killed by unknown persons, believed to be individuals from the Waria community residing at six Compound settlement in Wau Town.
“In retaliation, the Biangai community set up a roadblock along the main highway leading to Waria and Garaina, demanding that the murder suspects be brough forward to the hands of law enforcement officers,” Siguyaru said.
“Initial attempts by police to remove the roadblock were unsuccessful. The efforts by the local member for Wau-Waria and Wau Police to negotiate with the local leaders from the Six Compound was unsuccessful as well.”
PPC Siguyaru travelled to Wau on Tuesday 07th April 2026 following the Easter period and convened a joint meeting with the leaders from Biangai, Waria and Watut communities.
Siguyaru also directed instructed Biangai community to remove the roadblock in which the road blocks were removed last week, Wednesday April 8th 2026, restoring normal traffic flow.
However, he said the Waria community at the Six Compound has yet to comply with the directives to surrender the suspects.
