Port Moresby Soccer Association Round 5: Genesis survives

It was a fierce encounter in the Premier Division match between Momase and FC Genesis as the Port Moresby Soccer Association capped off its round five games yesterday.

The 4th placed Genesis side claiming their third win this season.

The club looked at extending their winning run this season.

They would face a tough ask against a Momase side that had former PNG youth international Richard Matanga and one-time NSL defender Moses Arisib in their side.

And while it was a physical encounter from the get go, a fortunate strike by defender Titus Mokagai for Genesis would see his side equalise, after going a goal down early.

That goal was followed up fifteen minutes later with another one as former PNG international Andrew Lepani with a beautiful curled corner for his sides second, right on the stroke of half time.

Momase had been placed under intense pressure throughout the match, Arisib getting physical against the silky skills of midfielder Brett Seriba as Genesis looked at being one of the newest clubs on the scenes to make the finals.

The final score, a 4-1 win for FC Genesis.
