The fight between two security firms at the Jacksons’ Airport this morning, will be investigated by Police with arrests expected to be made.
This, according to acting NCD/Central Commander Anthony Wagambie Jnr.
The fight started around 6:30 am this morning between two security firms believed to have stemmed from a change of contracted security by the National Airport Corporation.
The attack launched by one of the security firms has been described by Wagambie as uncivilized and is an act of domestic terrorism on a vital Government installation.
“The guards from the security firm that had launched the attack were rounded up by Police and taken to the Airport Police base, where the management of both security companies as well as NAC management met.”
He said the police will work closely with NAC security to ensure that those that have broken Civil Aviation laws are dealt with under that Act, which carries hefty penalties.
“The Damages that were done to the Domestic Terminal, the cost will be put together and those involved will be charged for the amount of damage.”
He added Police will now be in charge of supporting NAC Security to keep watch at the Jacksons’ Airport while the issue of security provider is sorted out by NAC Management.
“I want to assure everyone that Police will not let this go down easily.”
“Investigations will be done, leading to arrest.” He added.
Wagambie is also calling on the Security Industry Commission to seriously look into the operations of these companies.
“We cannot have bullying taking place when it comes to change of contracts.”
