Police operations in the provinces have well commenced. In West New Britain Province, Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector John Iara said they have launched the Christmas and New Year Operations last Wednesday with New Guinea Islands Divisional Commander ACP Perou N’Dranou officiating at the parade launch.
“With the recent law and order issues in the province, we have identified hot spot areas and my men will not hesitate to come down hard on anyone who behaves disorderly during the festive season,” PPC Iara said.
Police in West New Britain Province will continue with regular foot and motorist patrols throughout the Christmas and New Year periods.
Meanwhile, in the Western Highlands Province, the official parade launch of the festive period police operations was conducted today.
Police Personnel from throughout the province including rural police commands in Dei Council and Nebilyer and other rural commands assembled at the Kimininga Police Barracks Oval for the official launch today.
“A three months liquor ban will also be imposed in the province moving into the festive season and my men and women will be on high alert,”PPC Sagom said. EMTV News understands a similar liquor ban will be imposed in other provinces as Papua New Guineans prepare to enter the festive season.
