Following the PNGRFL Annual General Meeting in Lae, last Saturday, where Sandis Tsaka was re-elected as president, unopposed, Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko commended the professionalism upheld by PNGFRL.
In a media conference yesterday, the minister said, rugby league can now be an example of good management and administration that other sporting bodies can look at and follow.
Re-elected PNGRFL Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, will retain his seat for another three-year term, with support from all 41 affiliates.
This was a result of nominations from affiliates; Gaire, Motu Koita, Lae, Moresby South and Port Moresby Rugby League.
The AGM went smoothly and the re-elected president also delivered his report of the last term and an audited financial report which was accepted by the affiliates present.
On that note, Minister Tkatchenko is now urging PNG Football and PNGRFU to get their acts together.
He added, differences need to be set aside and everyone must compromise as this will affect the clubs, players and the rest of the rugby union, and football fraternities.
In football alone, Tkatchenko hopes the feud between two factions, the John Kappi Nato side and PNGFA’s David Chung must be dissolved at some stage.
Tkatchenko said, FIFA must also be concerned now that there is still separation.
With the disputes over the PNGRFU presidency still causing friction between factions, the minister has already received confirmation from Steven Kami and his board, agreeing for a sit-down with the minister.
