Papua New Guinea’s Health Minister, Sir Puka Temu, has confirmed that the country has received new supplies of the Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) Drugs for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Minister Temu said the Government has issued an emergency order for supplies which are already in the country and will soon be distributed. Temu said there are currently 26, 000 confirmed persons who are on the ART Drugs, and the new supply will last them for the next four months until the next supply arrives.
The Minister has also announced that there are procurement processes in place and every province must notify the Health Department if they are running low in supplies or have not received any.
