PNG Ports Assists Affected Manam Islanders

The PNG Ports Board has donated K100 000 towards assisting the affected Manam islanders following the recent eruptions. Board Chairman, Sir Nathaniel Poya, said as a corporate citizen it is important that the company help its people during times of need, especially during disasters.

The cheque was presented to the Madang Governor, Peter Yama, yesterday where a small but significant gathering was held at the Madang Provincial Government building.

The Board of PNG Ports Corporation has decided to give K100 000 to assist the Madang Provincial Government settle affected Manam islanders.

The board has seen that a huge need will be placed on logistics in terms of moving the islanders. Thus, they have decided to give the money to the Provincial Government for that support.

Madang Governor, Peter Yama, and the Acting Provincial Administrator, Joseph Kunda Bonomane, received the cheque yesterday.

Governor, Peter Yama, when receiving the cheque said PNG Ports is the first company to offer its assistance in terms of money towards supporting the people of Manam. Yama assured the board the money given will be acquitted for so that there are transparency and accountability on where the money will be used for.
