The PNG Men’s National Football team are in day 2 of a training camp in Port Moresby. The camp began yesterday where skills and fitness have been tested.
The men’s camp has been split into two groups, with the Port Moresby-based players going through the first training camp, while others selected from teams in Lae, Madang and the Highlands region will gather in Lae for their training camp which begins on the 22nd of April to the 24th. The training camp is to check players’ fitness and skill level and to see how they can play together as a team.
Coach Bob Morris says he is still trying to get to know some players style of football. Even though it’s a huge task coaching the national team, Morris is confident with the players he has and is sure to pick a good team for the Pacific Games. He is not new to coaching the national side as he has assisted international coaches in the past. He is familiar with many of the players in the train on squad and says PNG internationals, Alwin and Felix Komolong, Tommy Semmy, David Browne and Wira Wama will join the final team before the games.
Coach Morris is also confident the team can win gold at the Pacific Games.
The Port Moresby camp will end tomorrow.
