PNG CHIEFS COMMENCE K200 MILLION PLAYER RESIDENTS
Papua New Guinea Chiefs chief executive officers and the Constantinou group of companies have announced the commencement of PNG Chiefs player resident ahead of National Rugby League season 2028.
The ground breaking was done today at Airways Hotel and residents in 7-mile, Port Moresby by PNG Chiefs’ chief executive officer Lorna McPherson, Constantinou group chairman George Constantinou and Minister for Sports Kinoka Feo.
Constantinou said the residents will coast about K200 million, depending on how the construction of the facility goes.
He said the resident “will comprise of 80 international designed units from one to three-bedroom apartments. Of the 80 unites, 67 will be used by the PNG Chiefs players, managements and families.
“The cost of the development is over and about K200m depending on how we get everything up and running,” Constantinou said.
McPherson stress that the residential quarters is designed specifically to suit the needs of the PNG Chiefs players, staff and their families.
“The village will be safe secured and family oriented. It is located closer at the airport as well,” McPherson said.
“The accommodation will be ready at November 2027 and look forward to the team entering the NRL. Because we want them (players) to perform the best on the field but we also want them to have a lovely environment off the field.”
The facility will have clinics, food bars, gyms, spa, barbers and other facilities to provide for teams need.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Minister Feo said this development is to ensure the government’s support of PNG Chiefs players and staff on and off the field.
“This project also promises the part of a broader preparation underway to ensure Port Moresby is ready to offer the PNG Chiefs and the many supporters and visitors.”
He said the this is the start of many things to come.
The players signed by Chiefs will also have access to the Constantinou group’s Loloata Island Resort.
