PNG and Australia agrees to zero tolerance approach to fraud

Papua New Guinea and Australia have agreed to a zero tolerance approach to fraud in Australia’s aid program to PNG.

This stand was initially accepted during the ministerial forum held in Canberra last October.

As a follow through, Minister for National Planning & Monitoring Charles Abel and Director General of the Australian Agency for International Development or AusAID signed a joint statement yesterday.

Both acknowledged that the negative effects of fraud and corruption have an adverse effect on service delivery to AID beneficiaries.
