The fifth brand new ATR aircraft for PNG Air has commenced its first commercial operations today.
The new aircraft, Alpha Tango Delta, has joined the other four ATRs already flying in the domestic routes.
Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Abbot in a statement said, this new addition, will provide even greater options for travelers to enjoy the superior comfort and quietness of PNG Air’s newest aircraft fleet.
“We have been able to increase the number of flights operated by the ATR aircraft which means more people have travelled with the ATR,”
“PNG people love flying on the ATR and it’s a real step up from what has been available before,” Mr Abbot said.
Changes to the airline’s schedule means all services to Lihir, Madang and Wewak Island are now operated by ATR aircraft. Services between Lae and Mt Hagen have been reinstated and additional services to Kiunga on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“We are excited that the latest addition to our fleet now means PNG Air is operating the youngest commercial fleet in PNG. When we began the re-fleeting program, one of our key priorities was to provide PNG with the best aviation service possible; using brand new aircraft, and not recycled ones from other markets.
Mr Abbot has thanked the shareholders and said PNG Air takes great pride in providing state-of-the-art aircraft and a level of service for the PNG travelling public.
