Today marks 130 years since Papua was declared Independent in 1884. But after all this years, their right to self-rule has not been recognized.

Papuan’s feel they have been denied their right to self-government.
Dame Josephine Abaijah, who has been at the forefront of the movement, was vocal to see Papuans reclaim their true identity.
The Papua issue has long been debated, with Dame Josephine urging thinking Papuan’s not to give up the fight.
She wants to see that Papua develops in the future.
There are plans to make the movement global to rally support for the Papuan cause.
With or without the support from their political heads, Papuans are determined as ever to one day be able to take ownership of their land, resources and people.
Dame Josephine appealed to all Papuans to in still in their children the true Papuan values.
