PAPUA NEW GUINEAN LEADS COMMERCIAL TEAM AT SOLOMON BREWERY
After twelve outstanding years with Papua New Guinea’s national brewer, SP Brewery, Allan Kwarara has been promoted to Commercial Manager for Solomon Brewery in the Solomon Islands.
This promotion marks a significant milestone in his professional journey and reflects SP Brewery’s commitment to developing local talent.
Allan is from Gabagaba in the Rigo District of Central Province. A devoted family man, he is married and blessed with two children and a granddaughter. Growing up in a humble household, he developed a strong sense of independence and resilience from an early age.
“Growing up as the youngest in my family came with its own challenges. I received attention, but my opinions were often overlooked. I wasn’t always heard, and that taught me early on to stand firm and speak with purpose.
“When my father retired, we returned to the village. Moving from the city to a rural setting made me realise that I couldn’t rely on anyone else. I had to take responsibility for shaping my own future,” Allan shared as he recalled his early years.
After completing high school at Iarowari Secondary School, Allan went on to graduate from the National Fisheries College. He initially planned to pursue a completely different career path, as working in sales was something he never imagined for himself, but life had other plans.
“I started working as an office clerk at a law firm and later as a supervisor at a bar. Each role taught me valuable lessons, and I’m grateful for every step, but that was not enough. I had to make some tough choices and rethink my priorities, and that’s when doors began to open for me.”
Allan’s sales journey officially began when he joined a beverage company—an unexpected start that ultimately paved the way for a rewarding career.
He joined SP Brewery in 2014 as an Assistant Regional Sales Manager and was later confirmed as the Southern Regional Sales Manager, a role he excelled in for seven years. His disciplined approach and consistent performance quickly positioned him as a key contributor to the company’s commercial success.
In 2017, Allan was selected to participate in the HEINEKEN International Management Development Excellence Course (HIMDEC) in London, a globally recognised program designed to build advanced commercial and leadership capabilities within the HEINEKEN Group. The experience significantly strengthened his leadership skills and strategic perspective.
The following year, in 2018, he was recognised for his potential and chosen for the Go Places Program, earning a short-term assignment in East Timor. This opportunity broadened his commercial exposure and deepened his understanding of regional markets.

Throughout his career, Allan has played a pivotal role in driving key sales initiatives across SP Brewery. He has collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to strengthen commercial performance, implement strategic improvements, and support positive cultural change within the organisation.
Allan credits his upbringing for shaping his determination and leadership.
“My father encouraged me to strive for more. That challenge became the foundation of my determination and passion. The exposure, challenges, learning, and achievements have made my journey fulfilling. Despite the setbacks I’ve encountered, keeping sight of the bigger picture is what drives me.”
He added, “I am grateful for the support, collaboration, and recognition I’ve received across the organisation. The management team recognises leadership and provides the platform for people to grow.”
In his new role as Commercial Manager for Solomon Brewery, Allan now leads the commercial department of the Solomon Islands’ premier brewing company, based in Honiara. As the nation’s first and largest beer producer, established in 1993, Solomon Brewery holds a significant place in the local market.
Allan brings to the team his PNG expertise, strong leadership, and a genuine passion for developing both people and performance.
He encourages young professionals pursuing sales and commercial careers to remain focused and proactive, set clear personal and professional goals, enjoy their work, and always strive for excellence.
