Newly appointed minister for Justice and Attorney General, Ano Pala, says he achieved his immediate task and that was to have a new representation at Court today.
Minister Pala’s appointee was Paul Mawa, who successfully made a submission on putting a stay order on Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill’s warrant of arrest.
Mr. Mawa replaces Nicholas Miviri who has been acting for the police department.
Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, yesterday appointed Ano Pala as minister for Justice and Attorney General replacing Kerenga Kua.
Today, the new Attorney General told EMTV that his appointment came with an immediate task, and that was to prevent the Prime Minister from being arrested, which he successfully achieved, by having a new representation at court today.
Minister Pala said there are a number of responsibilities that he is expected to achieve amongst which the Independent Commission Against Corruption or ICAC bill is on top of the priority list.
The Attorney General will be operating for a week in his old office at Transport Ministry to allow for the former Attorney General to vacate the Attorney General’s office.
Mr. Pala thanked the prime minister for having the confidence in him and also thanked the outgoing minister for his contributions in cabinet.
He said a replacement for the Transport Portfolio will be announced by the Prime minister in due course.
