More than 2,000 youths have gathered at Apere village in Mumeng LLG for the annual Biangkoun Lutheran Youth Easter Camp.
The Biangkoun Lutheran Parish in Buang, Bulolo district of Morobe, is currently hosting the camp. Parish Youth Coordinator Nael Waikisa said he revived the Easter Camp after taking over the role three years ago.
He explained that as head of the youth ministry, it is important to ensure young people remain steadfast in their faith and become champions in fighting the good fight of faith.
Waikisa said this year’s camp theme follows the national theme of the Lutheran Church, based on Galatians 5:4, which emphasizes enjoying the freedom given by salvation and standing firm in faith. He stressed that the Easter Week program aims to help youths fully understand their responsibilities as free Christians.
He confirmed this is the third Easter Camp since the revival and said four study masters are supporting Pastor Barnabas David in leading the sessions.
Waikisa added that the ministry’s goal is to nurture God-fearing, community-oriented youths who can help develop Buang. Participating groups include Bugiyau Lutheran Youth Ministry, Wagau Youth Ministry, Mambumb Lutheran Youth, Gambia Youth, Aiyeyok Youth, Saint Yapiyana Youth Ministry, Saint Barnabas Youth from Uri congregation in Omsis, and a group from Bulolo town.
