The Police Homicide Division has confirmed with EMTV that a post-mortem on the body of Late Kumul Star, Kato Ottio, had been conducted.
The post-mortem revealed nothing out of the ordinary, but the body of a fit and healthy athlete.
The 23-year-old, who was recently recruited by English Super League Club, Widnes Vikings, collapsed during a training session on the 7th of January, this year.
Samples of body tissues were extracted and taken to the lab for further examination to determine a cause of death.
Chief Pathologist, Dr Seth Fose, said the report is in its final draft and will be released by the Coroner.
Meanwhile, the hospital late Ottio was first admitted to, Gerehu General Hospital, said in a statement yesterday that a provisional diagnosis of severe exertional heat stroke with multi-organ dysfunction was made by the emergency team, and managed accordingly.
However, his condition was critical, and he required a higher tertiary care facility which Port Moresby General Hospital and Pacific International Hospital (PIH) have in their capacity.
According to PIH, the treatment as undertaken by Gerehu General Hospital was not communicated to PIH at the time of transfer and attempts to contact the treating doctors at Gerehu clinic were unsuccessful.
Nevertheless, Gerehu General Hospital maintains that the official referral was accepted by the PIH receiving emergency doctor.
