In this episode:
We place the sport light on the Managalas Plateau proposed conservation area in Popondetta, Northern Province.
This proposed conservation area covers three hundred and sixty thousand hectares of land comprising of lowland tropical rainforest to mid-mountain forest and savannah grassland.
Managalas Plateau is one of the few remaining areas of the Northern Province that is still untouched by logging and oil palm activities, the two factors contributing to the fast diminishing natural habitat.
The people have been waiting for years for the area to be declared a conservation area, and are urging the responsible authorities, especially the Environment and Conservation Protection Authority (CEPA), to fast track the process and have their area declared as soon as possible.
