The Oil Search PNG Orchids has named a team to play a warm up match in Cairns, Australia. The squad features Brisbane based forward, Jazmyn Taumafai.
Jazmyn Taumafai’s mother was born in Port Moresby and has been named in the 19-player Oil Search PNG Orchids squad for this weekend’s warm-up match against an invitational side at Innisfail outside of Cairns in Queensland, Australia.
They will play the Mayor’s Invitational side made up of players from North Queensland. The match will be a curtain raiser to a pre-world cup warm up match between Tonga and Italy.
Orchids Captain, Cathy Neap said Taufamai’s inclusion will bring a lot of experience to the team. This will be the Orchids second match after playing their first, against the Jillaroos in September.
The team leaves this Thursday for the match on Friday.
Their final 24-player team for the Rugby League World Cup will be named next week.
