Oil Search and Kumul Petroleum Support Gender Equality through Sport

EMTV is delighted to announce a sponsorship partnership with two proud PNG companies: Oil Search (PNG) Limited and Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited.

This exciting sponsorship allows EMTV to have exclusive TV coverage of the 2017 Women’s Rugby League World Cup from 16 November to 2 December 2017.

In an historic first, this will allow EMTV to bring all the matches to the people of PNG.

This sponsorship partnership was announced in conjunction with the announcement by the Chairman of PNG Rugby League, Sandis Tsaka, that Oil Search Limited will be the platinum partner of the PNG Rugby team at the World Cup and the new official PNG Women’s Rugby League World Cup Team name is “The Oil Search PNG Orchids”.

“We are of the firm belief that the national sport should be the domain of both men and women. Not only is Oil Search sponsoring the Oil Search PNG Orchids heading to Sydney, we are also making sure the games will be broadcast live in PNG, to facilitate EMTV to bringing the games to everyone.” said Peter Botten, CEO Oil Search (PNG) Limited.

“It is important that EMTV showcases not only the Men’s World Cup tournament but the Women’s World Cup tournament as well” said EMTV CEO Matthew Park.

“It is fantastic to be in partnership with two strong and committed PNG companies in the Oil and Gas Sector as TV Sponsors for this major global event that promotes gender equality.”

This is also the first time that a PNG women’s rugby league team will compete in the Rugby League World Cup tournament. All men’s and women’s World Cup matches will be broadcast on EMTV.
