O’Neill: More Businesses, More Employment Opportunities

The prime minister’s visit every time to Lae brings good news about PNG’s economic growth, and how well the economy is doing.

Prime Minister Peter O'Neil was in Lae to officiate the launching of a new conference facility at the Lae international hotel, and over 200 business representatives turned up for the event.

During the gathering, Mr. O’Neil chose the occasion to talk about the unemployment rate, and how the growing economy could address this problem.

“I'm certain that you can agree with me, that our governmentS recent effort, will add to huge public confidence in making sure that we provide infrastructures that will serve our country”, Prime Minister O'Neil said.

In September last year, Mr. O’Neil was in Lae to officiate the opening of a new sausage factory, owned by the Prima Smallgoods. These businesses come at a time as Morobe province is slowly transformed into economic capital.

The development of the Lae Nadzab highway, the extension of the Lae port, and the Lae road rehabilitation, will provide a conducive economic environment, to grow these businesses.

Whilst businesses will be expanding, the Prime Minister says, he wants to look at the small picture, many business means, more job opportunities for the unemployed.
