The Senior Executive Management (SEM) team of the New Ireland Provincial Administration has been put on notice to honor their commitment of oath in serving the people of New Ireland and the government of the day diligently.
Governor Sir Julius Chan held a special meeting with the Senior Executive Management team yesterday (Tuesday, 9th January 2024) where he outlined his government’s expectations for this year.
“I appeal to all of you to abide by the oath of loyalty and service to the State and my Government.
“Take full attention to the directives from my office and serve within the public service code of conduct.
“I am aware of the mismanagement of funds and crook dealings within the administration and I will come down hard on those responsible.
“Senior officers implementing improper directions, tactical public service delays, unauthorized usage of hire cars and fuel and frequent trips out of Kavieng by senior public servants.
“New Ireland has no place for people like you. If you do not agree with me, you can leave.
“I appeal to all of you to uphold the trust placed in you to safeguard public funds and assets under your control.
“On that note I also expect all CEO’s and Directors to keep their respective Provincial Executive Council Chairman’s up to date with their progress of work and be in constant communication with my office”, he said.
Acting Provincial Administrator Richard Andia thanked the Governor for reminding the senior public servants of the Government’s directives for this year and also reiterated the full commitment of the team.
