New UNDP Country Representative Positive On Development Challenges

ROY Trivedy is Papua New Guinea’s new United Nations Development Program Country Representative.

Mr Trivedy was welcomed by Foreign Affairs Minister, Rimbink Pato yesterday, at Parliament House.

In welcoming Mr Trivedy, Minister Pato said PNG currently has numerous development challenges, but also acknowledged the assistance provided by the United Nations to tackle these issues.

Mr Pato said Mr Trivedy’s input will enhance the existing partnership between the United Nations and the Government of PNG, to improve people’s livelihood.

The United Nations’ Development Program has always contributed to programs that have seen the improvement, and awareness of various sectoral issues.

From health, and improving awareness on new supplementary vaccination programs, to giving more prominence to issues around children’s rights, and empowering girls, and young women toward achieving more recognition in PNG society, the UNDP, through its various offices, has helped.

UNDP has also assisted with providing more information, and awareness on the experience of other countries and their fight against corruption.
