NCD Health Centres Need Vital Attention

All Health Centres in the National Capital District have to be redesigned and equipped with new facilities and staff to cater for the growing population.

NCD Provincial Health Advisor, Dr. Gary Ou’U, said all health facilities in NCD need modification and remodelling.

Mr. Ou’U said all twenty main health centres in NCD need renovation and new equipment.

He said many of them, especially those owned by the Government, were built some 30 years ago, and at present, cannot cater for the influx of patients in NCD.

Mr. Ou’u, said Gerehu Health centre will soon be upgraded to a provincial Hospital, taking referrals from its sister health centres in NCD, thus limiting the number of patients being referred to Port Moresby General Hospital.

He said all health centres in NCD need new facilities, including laboratory, pharmacy and labour wards. He also said in order to get these six components; they will need about K5 Million. He called on the local MPs, to assist them in implementing their five year health plan for NCD.

NCD Health Services, Curative Health Director, Dr. Jerry Tanumei, said they have their implications and limitations that the people may think otherwise.
