The newly licensed National Banking Corporation now a commercial bank, has undergone a complete rebranding, including a new logo.
The bank’s products are designed to make banking accessible to all Papua New Guineans.
The event was officiated by prime Minister James Marape and Minister for state enterprises William Duma together with other important stake holders at the APEC house in Port Moresby yesterday.
The Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) has fully certified and granted the National Banking Corporation Limited, formerly the People’s Micro Bank, a commercial banking license last year.
During the event the minister for state enterprises William Duma said National Corporation Bank is a result of the transformation of the National Development Bank.
He said to achieve a fully commercial licensing bank is not easy and congratulated the board of directors led by Chairman Darrel Seeto and the rest of the management team including the central bank.
After giving a brief history of the bank Minister Duma said NDB has adapted to meet the requirements of the day and the creation of People’s Micro Bank was a change undertaken just over 19 years and its transformation into the national Banking corporation.
He also thanked the Marape Rosso government for making funding available for the bank to be fully Licensed.
Prime Minister James Marape while congratulating the NBC team said the National Corporation Bank is planning to list its stocks for public purchase as early as 2026.
He is urged the NBC team to make the banking service accessible to the people to have access to it as 80 percent of PNGs population are unbanked.
NBC currently has 10 branches throughout the country and its working to expand to the rest of the provinces.
