Morobe to pay tithe

Morobe governor, Kelly Naru,   told more than 4000 Lutheran women at conference yesterday that ten percent of all provincial government revenue will be given to Churches to provide basic services.

Kelly Naru who was a guest of honor at the gathering in Mumeng said there will, however, be funding requirements and guidelines to access those funds.

Two weeks ago, the governor highlighted worrying statistics that showed that more than half of its 300 plus aidposts and health çenters remain closed.

Schools and other infrastructure have also deteriorated due to years of neglect.

The budgetary allocation is meant to support existing church run schools where Government services are non-existent.
