MOROBE FEELING – Morobe prepares to welcome teams to the PNG Games

Morobe province is all set to welcome athletes arriving for the 6th BSP PNG Games in Lae.

Governor Kelly Naru, says provincial teams will be given a rousing welcome, as ‘Kulau stops’ are being set up at villages along the Markham valley into Lae city.

Over 20 villages from Watarais down to Yalu, have been delegated to provide refreshments for athletes travelling into Lae this week.

With 4 days remaining before the opening of the PNG Games, the host province is determined and ready to provide the best hospitality for its visitors.

Being one of the biggest provinces in Papua New Guinea, Morobe is thrilled to host the biggest sporting event in the country.

Team officials have started arriving since Monday and the excitement is growing towards the opening ceremony.

Today the Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru donated live pigs to 20 Markham villages to host visiting teams.

Refreshment stops for teams coming in from the Highlands region and the Madang province, start from Young creek, Watarais, Umi, Mutzing, Leron and Erap.

For those travelling in from Nadazb airport, they will have theirs from Wampar all the way to Yalu village.

Kelly Naru says he is looking forward to host Team NCD and Governor Powes Parkop at his Yalu village.

Despite reports of petty crimes in the city, police, defence force and security companies will be providing security at all accommodation and sporting venues.

The opening ceremony of the games will begin at 1:30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be broadcasted live on EMTV throughout the country.
