Morobe Governor disappointed over 2015 budget

Morobe Governor Kelly Naru has expressed disappointment over the 2015 budget.

He said there has been a reduction in funds allocated to local level governments of the province that will greatly effect provision of services within provinces. Governor Naru expressed his disappointment today regarding the allocation of funds for his province.

He said the province has received the budget with mixed feelings; however, his biggest disappointment is with the reduction of funds allocated for Morobe Province’s 33 local level governments.

He said although some sectors of the province had their funds beefed up, the LLG’s funds were reduced in the budget.

He urged the government to reconsider the allocation for funds for LLGs, also adding that the government had back flipped on its commitment to empowering LLGs.

He has however come up with a strategy to address this issue if nothing will be done to meet the shortfall in funds allocated to LLGs.

The local level governments of Morobe Province will miss out on K12.2 million in the 2015 budget and Naru says this will slow down service provision for the people.
