Morobe Governor Demands Stern Action By Schools

Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, has issued a stern warning to school managements that they will be severely punished If the students involved in  the stoning of a passenger bus on Friday are not expelled.

Naru said in a news conference this afternoon that he would make sure all those responsible are brought to justice.

The Governor was driving past the scene, when he witnessed the attack on commuters by a group of uniformed Lae Secondary School students.

Over the past month, there have been sporadic instances of student violence in Lae. Many of which have remained unreported.

Meanwhile, the Police Minister, Robert Atiyafa, who arrived in Lae today, said students who behave like criminals deserve to be treated as such by police.  Robert Atiyafa has made a submission to the National Executive Council for a study into the probable causes of tribal and student related violence.

Both men were angered by todays incident where more than 30 people were injured.
