More Asylum Seekers vacate Detention Centre

The joint operation between Police, Defence and Immigration Citizenship Services Authority is concluding at the Manus Detention Centre.

Manus PPC, David Yapu, who is at Lombrum, said nine more asylum seekers have vacated the Centre today.

At least two hundred asylum seekers have vacated the Manus Detention Center voluntarily after the Supreme Court’s Decision on Tuesday, this week.

PPC Manus, Chief Inspector David Yapu said this afternoon, that 90 more left the Centre today.

Authorities on the ground are carrying out the transferal despite the heavy downfall.

Those asylum seekers who have been processed as genuine refugees are accommodated at East Lorengau Transit Centre while those who are not genuine are at West Lorengau.

The Detention Centre remains restricted to the public and media personnel.
