The 2015 Miss Solomon Islands pageant was launched on Monday, October 12, with state owned enterprise Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) as major sponsor of the event.
The pageant is open to young, unmarried women between the ages of 18 and 26.
The sponsorship by the Solomon Islands Ports Authority towards the pageant is significant to their endeavours to supporting women’s empowerment and partnership in the Solomon Islands.
Speaking at the launch, SIPA’s Director Commercial and Cruise Department, Glyn Joshua, expressed joy over the opportunity to support the prestigious event adding that SIPA was giving back to the community.
The 2015 Miss Solomon Islands pageant is organised by local events group Solomon Host.
Registrations for the pageant will close on Wednesday, October 21, and young women from the Solomon Islands are encouraged to enter.
Speaking to the local media, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solomon Host, Joyce Konofilia, said that the event was challenging to host and thanked SIPA for their support.
