Micah Gives 24Hours To Reinstate Tangit

State Enterprise Minister Ben Micah, sounded alarm bells to PNG Power Board, to reinstate suspended Chief Executive Officer John Tangit.

In a news conference today, Minister Micah said the meeting held by PPL Board Members to suspend Mr. Tangit, was inappropriate.

A 24 hour deadline was given to PPL Board Chairman Robert Bradshaw and his board members to respond to Mr. Micah by 3 pm this afternoon.

Minister Micah expressed disappointment over the PNG Power Board decision in suspending Mr. Tangit.

He says Mr Tangit’s suspension comes amidst dialogues between PNG Government and Indonesia, to conclude agreements in power supply, telecommunication and airline operations.

Mr Micah said if the PPL Board does not respond by this afternoon, the whole board will be sacked through a cabinet decision by today.

He says the National Executive Council has appointed a ministerial committee to comprehensively inquire into state affairs of PNG Power Limited, functions of the board and management.

Minister Micah gave directions to Mr. Tangit to take his office as the CEO of PPL.
