Hunters gearing up for their 4th season in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup Competition

The SP PNG Hunters are gearing up for their 4th season in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup Competition.

Coach Michael Marum has named his final squad for this season and is confident, this team can make it to the final.

Fourteen players from last season have made it back into the 2017 team. Six former Hunters have also been named, in the likes of Israel Eliab, Stanton Albert, Noel Joel, Lawrence Tu’u, David Loko, and Willie Minoga.

Nine new players have been included in this year’s team, which includes Wellington Albert, who has never played with the Hunters.

Missing from the training was Wartovo Puara Jnr., who recently went through a major surgery on his left shoulder. He will be travelling to Brisbane for a further medical review. Marum says, he may be out till round 4 of the competition.

Size in the forward pack has been an issue for the team over the past 3 years. This year’s team, Marum says, has much bigger and stronger players up front.

The Hunters will play a trial match in Cairns against Northern Pride next month, with the Captain to be named later on during the Hunters’ Season Launch.
