Traders, residents and small business houses alike in Maprik, East Sepik province can look forward to choose between service providers for mobile communication with Telikom PNG launching its 3G/4G service in central Sepik ahead of the Christmas week.
Member for Maprik, John Simon, was accompanied by the town’s Mayor, Paul Dugi, to officiate at the launch of the Mobile service last Thursday, 21st December, 2017.
“We have seen Maprik grown from strength to strength. Maprik town has elevated to the urban status as its seen today where today there is a lot of business and cash flow activities. Telikom make no mistake for bringing your services here as you can see Maprik Township has booming business activities happening here,” Mayor Dugi remarked.
He also called on Telikom to formally set up an office in Maprik for customer queries.
Member for Maprik John Simon when welcoming Telikom PNG pointed out the District was fortunate to have Telikom PNG include the district in its initial mobile network rollout where many other districts throughout the country have yet to receive such service.

He shared of his experience using Telikom mobile service and was pleased with the call and data rates that lasted for some time.
“I have used Telikom’s mobile service and I am telling you it is the most reliable service. There are many districts in the country that don’t have Telikom’s mobile network and I feel sorry for them. For us in Maprik, you have no excuse. The service is here and along the highway into Wewak,” Mr Simon remarked.
Telikom Regional Business manager NCD – John Ovia who represented Telikom management at the launch acknowledged the support of the Honorable Member, the mayor and the district administration to have Telikom establish its service in the district. He said it was not just mobile service that Telikom was delivering to the people of Maprik but a new installation of the MSAN switch at Maprik exchange will deliver better connectivity for landline users as well.
