Chief Secretary to Government, Isaac Lupari met with officers of the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) last week to acknowledge, and embrace their importance in the Government sector.
During his address, he challenged IRC staff members to build their capacity and go after tax evaders.
“Companies in this country continue to operate and expand yet they are telling us they don’t have money. Your job is to go after them and knock at their doors to make sure they pay tax for making money,” Lupari said.
Mr Lupari stressed as public servants, discipline and honesty must be maintained to serve the country.
“Our people pay for our income through taxes, therefore we as public servants must conduct ourselves appropriately and serve them truthfully,” Lupari said.
