The National Executive Council has appointed a new chairman of PNG Power Board.
Businessman and Managing Director of LNG landowner company, Trans wonderland, Larry Andagali, has been made the Chairman of the board. Andagali replaces the acting chairman Robert Bradshaw, who now takes up the role as the deputy chairman.
This was revealed by State Owned Enterprise Minister Ben Micah, in an interview with EMTV today. EMTV caught up with State Owned Enterprise Minister, Ben Micah, on his return into the country after attending an ADB meeting in Sydney, Australia.
Minister Micah confirmed with EMTV News, that NEC has appointed a new chairman on the PNG Power Board, after his NEC submission. Three new members on the board include the new chairman Larry Andagali.
Independent Public Business Corporation or IPBC, the shareholder of State Owned Enterprises, will not be represented on the board; this change is to avoid any conflict of interests, said Minister Micah.
Former Acting Chairman Robert Bradshaw, will take up the role as the deputy chairman on the board. The swearing in this full board will do, once it is published in the government’s gazette.
This change comes after sources revealed that PNG Power, was facing major financial crisis and Minister Micah, denying this claim. It also comes after former PNG Power CEO John Tangit, being suspended, and a pending investigation into PNG Power.
