Lae’s Ward 2 Councillor, Yawing, Asks Morobe Authorities to Release Funds on Time

A ward councilor of a local level government in Lae has called on Morobe Provincial Government, and the District to help her deliver her outstanding services from last year.

Carol Yawing, said one of her projects which was part of her five-year development plan was funded by a business house, and not through the government funds.

Yawing said the Provincial Government and other higher authorities should release funds on time in order to deliver basic services to the people.

With the delays of funding from the Provincial Government last year, most basic services in each ward in Lae district, especially Ward 2 were not delivered.

Councillor for Ward 2, Carol Yawing said because of the delay, she sought help from few business houses to assist in funding few of her projects.

“I want to deliver to my people on time, so the government must release what belongs to my Ward,” Yawing

Yawing said the Provincial Government should see efforts made by the business houses and have funds available on time to deliver basic services to the people.

The councillor led the effort to build a health centre  for the people residing at Cassowary Road.

The infrastructure was funded by a resident of the area, Sir Bob Sinclair.

The health centre is playing an important role in serving residents from the area, and other parts of Lae, especially women and children.

Councillor Yawing has few more outstanding projects to deliver before her term in office ends.

She has submitted a request of K30,000 to Lae District to build a staff house for the health centre last year, but nothing has been done.
