Labour Act Reviewed

The Department of Labour and Industrial Relations is doing all it can to deliver effective labour services.

It has urged its provincial labour officers throughout the country to perform.

The Labour Act is currently under review, with Labour Minister Benjamin Poponawa hoping to get it past cabinet.

The launch is in line with the department’s medium term development strategy.

The strategy is aimed at portraying a good corporate image of all stakeholders.

Secretary George Vaso told his staff to take pride in their new corporate wear.

He says for too long, the department has been complacent of its performance and hopes this will change the mind set of employees.

He expects change will be tough on those who do not comply.

Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations Mark Maipakai reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the department.

Field officers within the department will be given a different set of uniforms suitable to their working environment.
