Komo Ajakaiba Road MOU Signed

Three landowner companies in the Hela and Southern Highlands Province have come together to sign a Memorandum of Agreement for a road project.

The road will stretch from Komo to Ajakaiba, funded by the National Government under the Tax Credit Scheme, and will be administered by Oil Search Limited.

The 13 kilometers road will be constructed under the Department of Works, Rural Class 3 Road standard. The road project will also see the construction of bridges across 4 water ways, and flow of health and education services to 8 council wards.

Mananda Umbrella Joint Venture, Hides Gas Development Corporation and Kutmor Limited will pull resources to construct this old kiap road.

Hela Deputy Governor, Thomas Potabe, called on the developers to facilitate this project as scheduled and not to be driven by landownership priorities or politics.

The project carries a cost of about K15 million, and will commence end of this month in the Komo- Magarima District in Hela Province.

The MOU was signed today in Port Moresby.
