Opened in 2016, the Mount Hagen PNG International Training Institute (ITI) campus held its first graduation last Friday. Eighty-nine students graduated with certificates in Computing, Accounting, and Human Resource Management.
The private institution has plans to offer degree programs in the future for its ten campuses. With the graduation theme, ‘Knowledge is Transformation’, the institution tries its best to transform the lives of its students, so that they can be changed people after graduating.
ITI Managing Director, Kumaran Sentheyval, told the graduating students that the institution has affiliated with local and overseas universities to offer degree courses. Those who graduate can also apply.
Sentheyval said the ITI is here to stay and will build up more human resource in the province and PNG as a whole.
This year alone, over 4000 students were selected to do Certificate and Diploma Courses at various ITI campuses. For Mt Hagen alone, 600 students were selected to study at the Hagen campus.
Western Highlands Education Board Chairman, Lawrence Pena, speaking at the graduation said that the province will support the institution. Those at the high school and secondary school level who cannot make it to higher education can upgrade and apply to such institutions to further their studies.
Representatives from private sectors also attended the graduation encouraging the graduates to practice ethics in the workplace. The speakers also told the graduates to be career-driven and to show commitment to their jobs in order to prosper.
