ITI Cup Brings Heated Competition

The ITI under-21 volleyball competitions saw up to 32 teams from Port Moresby playing for the ITI Cup.

Closing the tournament yesterday were 9 under-21 women’s teams for this year.
 

Yesterday was the men’s finals. The 3-day tournament started on Friday for both men and women. The teams have increased in numbers from 43 to 52 teams this year.

 

The ITI under-21 volleyball competitions saw 23 men’s teams battling it out on the courts at Murray Barracks, under the blazing heat of the Port Moresby sun.

 

The players came from within Port Moresby and some even came from as far away as Kido village.

 

The men’s competition was fast and furious, with teams showing great on-court skills and tactics with good blocking defenses.
 

A total of 32 men and women’s teams ended the competition with presentations of cash and trophies.

 

A strong game between LHL Brothers in orange impressed the audience, while showcasing great defense and ball-blocking moves.

 

Meanwhile Parela, in blue, stood firm to attack in its full force. It all started in the morning with the round robin competition using 3 sets on court. In the elimination and semis, full 5 sets where used, including the finals.
