In this episode:
This week on Hot Spot, we profile some young guns in rugby.
The Pukpuks 7 team have announced for 20-year-old Emmanuel Guise, along with his Nova team mate, Billy Torea, Mendi’s Wesley Vali, Lae-based Butler Morris and AFL convert, Stanis Susuve, to lift the squads’ game and match their 2010 Bowl Finals performance in New Delhi.
In our Palais squad, the recall of debutants Michelle John and Barbra Sesel from Goroka sees some seasoned League converts, Freda Waula and Cathy Neap, adding come character to the young squad.
Lae-based Marana Wei takes the spotlight for our athlete’s profile; Wei is a squash player who took part in the recent squash titles held in Port Moresby.
Emphasizing the tough competition faced in Port Moresby, he is hopeful of his performance and selection throughout the year.
AFL PNG’s Southern Region Development Manager, Cornelius Papau, says our U-14 Binatangs performed exceptionally well in this year’s Queensland U-14 Development Championship, commending the boys on utilising their speed and on-and-off the field behaviour.
Meanwhile, AFL PNG has named a squad for the International Cup to be held next month, and has been training since. AFL PNG will also be hosting a corporate dinner to fly the large contingent to attend the tournament.
With their finals appearance for the last 10 years, the Mozzies hope the AFL fraternity will come and support their drive.
Our Hot Spot for this weekend will be at the Murray Barracks Oval for the Junior AFL competition.
