John Kali, who has just been appointed as the High Commissioner to Australia, met his former teacher after 44 years. It was an emotional meeting as Kali met the man who had a great impact on his life, Richard Clark.
Kali says that this is the man who helped him become who he is today for which he is forever grateful. It has been 44 years since John Kali has seen his teacher.
In June of 1964, 21-year-old Richard Clark arrived on the shores of Papua New Guinea. He had met all the requirements for his contract and was prepared to spend time in the remote parts of PNG.
While in Port Moresby, Clark taught at the school in which John Kali was a student at. Kali states that because of the quality of teaching Clark delivered, his class was the top in the country.
Richard Clark returned to Australia in 1974 but the impact of his life and education he taught has made the biggest difference. Kali attributes his success to his teacher. He states that with his new appointment, he will make a bigger impact in his nation.
