Authorities from the Correctional Service Commissioner’s Office say the Hawa Jail in Hela is not built according to CS specifications.
Acting Chief Superintendent and Executive Officer, Richard Mandui, told EMTV News the jail will not be operational unless a new facility is built.
This follows calls early this month by Hela Provincial Government to re-open the jail due to overcrowding in police cells.
