The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) recently sought the help of youth from Kimbe’s notorious Gigo Settlement, to carry out road safety awareness.
This is part of NRSC’s initiative to keep youth engaged and away from creating or getting involved in law and order problems in the community.
A total of 50 youths, comprising of 25 males and 25 females, were engaged by the council to conduct road safety awareness in Kimbe.
This community initiative of the National Road Safety Council is the first and successfully proven in West New Britain, engaging youth to be responsible agents of change.
It refrains them from partaking in illegal activities during this festive period.
Gigo was once known as a notorious zone with an increase law and order problems. But in the last four months, has maintained peace because of their involvement in the road safety awareness.
According to police there were no major law and order problems encountered.
