The First of the Four Senior Officials meeting for APEC member countries is underway in Port Moresby.
It began this morning with opening remarks from SOM One Chair, Ivan Pomaleu.
In this two day meeting, APEC Member countries are expected to present what they had recommended in their various working groups.
This is the 24th Senior Officials Meeting for APEC member countries and the first to be chaired by Papua New Guinea.
In his opening remarks, SOM Chair, Ivan Pomaleu encouraged APEC member countries to be interactive in their discussions.
Since the 24h of February, over 80 meetings were held in Port Moresby where APEC member countries conducted discussions on various economic aspects.
Much of the discussions are on creating policies that will not only grow the economy but help protect an economy.
For Papua New Guinea, the government bodies that participated in the discussions had given positive outcomes on areas where they can improve on.
The discussions conclude tomorrow with a Regional Visit to Goroka, in the Eastern Highlands.
