FIFTIETH HUNT FOR WABO

Papua New Guinea Hunters whizz-kid fullback has given credit to his family ahead of playing his 50th club match this Sunday.

Coming through the Lae Snax Tigers system and making his Hunters Debut in 2023, Sanny Wabo is more than ever a reliable fullback in the current Hunters squad.

He is named in the fullback position against Wynnum Manley Seagull for this Sunday’s match that will be kicking off at 3:30pm.

Wabo said it has been tough but through the support of his families, community and the team he is able to achieve this milestone.

“When I first arrived at Hunters in 2023, I used to train hard every day and turn up with right mindset and attitude to make the final squad and make the first 17 for round one,” Wabo said.

“I’ve faced a lot of challenges, sometimes I don’t play, other times I’m injured. Family issues back at my community (6 Mile, Port Moresby) but I still focused on my career. My career (playing) is everything in my life so I’m always focused and look up to my career. To be honest, I’ve gone through a lot.”

He said his biggest support comes from his grandparents.

“My family and my community back in Six Mile are those who stand behind me as well as my grandparents. My grandparents are everything to my career. It is through them that I find motivation.”

Wabo will be running out this Sunday with his fans and family cheering him on from the National Football Stadium stands.

“My family and community are looking forward to this weekend match and I look forward to play for them. It is my 50th game, a huge achievement in my playing career so I want my fans and families to turn up to cheer the boys.”

Wabo is also anticipating a strong campaign this season as an experienced player to lead the PNG side.
