An urban village in Port Moresby had their water project commissioned by NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby South MP, Justin Tkatchenko.
The Dura community in Kirakira village were overjoyed, as they believe this was an answered prayer, after many years of living without proper water supply.
Dura community is situated further away from the main Kirakira village, just near Port Moresby’s Sabama suburb.
The water supply will greatly benefit the 2,000 plus residents of Dura community.
The residents appeared happy to finally have water, after so many years of struggle.
The water supply is said to be the first phase of the development plan for the community.
Sewerage channels, fiscal planning for proper street design, and wider distribution of the water are to be the next projects to be done.
