Duo Charged Over Tampering And Illegal Connections

Two men in East New Britain will stand trial in the National Court for illegal connections and meter tampering.

PPL Investigation and Protective Services team arrested July Enos on two counts of illegal connections and Zheng Yuhui for bypassing meters at the Zero Supermarket in Rabaul between October and December 2013.

Investigations revealed the two supplied materials for connections and received over three thousand kina from customers who didn’t pay any connection fees to PPL.

Mr Yuhui was allowed a court bail of five thousand kina while Mr Enos will be referred to PPL Management for disciplinary actions.

Meanwhile in Morobe, PPL is calling on the public to come forward with any information on the burning of wooden power poles and transmission lines in Gusap.

The general public is advised to report anyone seen making fires near power poles and call the hotline numbers 71981000  – 71981001 – 71981002 or 3036100.
