By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The public service mechanism has been under criticism has the main factor of lack of government services to people around the country.

In its efforts to change that mentality, the Department of Personal Management is running trainings in provinces to enhance public servants.

DPM Secretary, John Kali, says preparing public servants to be focus in their roles will minimise corruption.

In a five-day workshop held recently in Kimbe West New Britain, DPM Secretary Kali said efforts are in place to revive and overhaul the public servants.

“DPM wants to see a vibrant and high performing public service workforce for better output in the public service sector,” Kali said.

The workshop aimed at breaking down the General Orders Policies with step by step instructions.

Kali said the training is a way forward to change the mindset of public servants to focus more on performance and outcomes.

West New Britain is the 5th province covered to undergo this training. Other provinces covered include, West Sepik, Manus, Northern and Milne Bay. Those provinces will be covered in the next few months.
